2006 AGM
It was agreed that the MCC should restrict their fixture list to six matches including the six-a-side tournament.
The first game being in April/early May, June, July and it was agreed that September would be a good month to include two matches since more touring teams are available after league commitments and the weather is generally ideal.
Initial fixture proposals were as follows:
Strasbourg, Away
Cern Home
Houghton on the Hill CC Home
Nationwide Building society Home
MCC Six-a-side Home
Les Ormes CC have also invited MCC to participate in Their Six-a-side tournament. Other suggestions for potential fixtures were to contact the Frog and Rostbeef Pub Chain Paris who have a team. Fixture secretary, Francois mentioned that our priority should be to entertain teams coming to Montbard as best as possible, and as to ensure that the MCC have 11 players for every game, members could invite friends to represent Montbard.
The match-manager system was deemed a success and that the club should continue this.
It was suggested that a non-refundable deposit be asked from touring teams (€300 for example to go towards the hotel reservation). This would hopefully eliminate any cancellations and allow us to commit to the Ecu hotel for accommodation and dinners.
Richard has offered to contact the Ecu in order work out a deal for our visiting teams. Richard also said that he would investigate the proposed date for the Montbard foire (generally 1st week of September) so that we would not have helicopters on the wicket.
Election of officers
After many seasons of hard work, on and off of the field, Steve and Dee have deservedly decided to take a back seat leaving the team without a captain. Spencer was voted in as captain of the team and accepted on the condition that with his heavy work schedule during the summer, a vice captain should be elected to cover in case of absence. Nitin was voted and accepted. After being offered such great kit by Ashok it was proposed by Francois that the club should appoint a kit manager, Martin has accepted this post.

Ground
The artificial wicket has been damaged during the 2006 season by the council tractor mower. Richard will meet the council and explain the problem and tell them that the club will erect a simple rope fence to encourage the mower to avoid the pitch. Fundraising will commence in 2007 for a new carpet for the future. It was also mentioned that the initial contributors to the present carpet are still to be reimbursed.
Richard brought up the toilet issue and that he has a contact to provide us with a portaloo. There would be a charge for the loo and a €30 cleaning charge. It was agreed that this facility should be reserved for ladies only.
Insurance
Tony mentioned the fact that the club should really have some form of insurance cover for both club and players, and third parties. Tony has offered to look into this and also to put together a first aid kit. It was suggested that the insurance company chosen could be offered free advertising on the website in exchange for a decent rate. The French Cricket Federation may provide cover should we become affiliated, again Tony will look in to this.
Catering
A major thanks goes to Steve and Dee for all of their work. MCC teas have a reputation of being outstanding and the generosity of Steve and Dee to lend their equipment and personal commitment has been greatly appreciated. They will now take a deserved rest and the following proposals for teas were as follows:
The club will invest in an electric tea urn, mugs, glasses, plates and spoons etc. Francois has offered to cover this.
It was decided that all players should bring cake or sandwiches for the tea and this should be delegated by the match-manger.
Richard knows a “tea lady” to take care of setting up the teas and clearing, at a charge of €10 per hour.
Sodas and beer will continue to be sold at €1 and wine sold by the glass.
Subs, match fees, fundraising
Subscriptions for 2007 are as follows €30 before Jan 1st and €40 after. It was agreed that if we are to be serious about a new carpet for the future and paying those who first contributed, we needed to be more disciplined about subs and match fees. Subs had not been collected in full for a couple of years but the club still had a balance of + €800.
Match fees were agreed at €5 per home tem member and donations would be asked for from visiting teams. It was deemed inappropriate to ask for tea and match money from visiting teams who had travelled so far.
Wellsy suggested a raffle every game, for a bottle of Grand Cru wine, as a fundraiser. He has offered to do this.
A.O.B
Ashok has been generous to provide kit for free to the club, badges and teams to play in our six-a-side tournament. The question asked was how could we thank him? One suggestion was for the Mcc to visit Delhi for a ten day trip. Initial proposals are ttwelve-monthrfare money from those who wish to participate over a twelve-month period starting in January 2007. The tour would then take place in January 2008. Spencer has offered to put a pay scheme together and look into tour possibilities; the initial reaction to this proposal was very warm.
Francois has cricket caps for all members, included in the annual subscriptions.
The website, created by Wellsy has offered the club a “hub” to keep in touch with club news. It was felt that the site was not used as much as it could be. There is a shout box and ways of leaving messages; members are encouraged to visit the site more often. You can always contact Wellsy wellsy@bluewin.ch if you have trouble logging on.
