AGM of the MCC held in Châteauneuf December 8
Two English teams have asked to come out and play us. One of these, a real ale drinking bunch from Ipswich, would like a full weekend of cricket and it was suggested we try
organise a twenty-twenty competition involving them; ourselves and another to-be-invited team on the Saturday and a normal full match between them and us on the Sunday. We could then have a rip-roaring social do on the Saturday evening complete with BBQ and all the trimmings. Maybe make enough to pay off some of the mat. If this should come to pass it would replace our six-a-side tournament. If not, we go ahead with a tournament but, this time concentrating on more “local” teams so as to avoid the prospect of more long-range cancellations. If Les Ormes decide to invite us again to their sixes tournament we will again accept and, hopefully, have a bigger turn out then last year. Hmmmm.
That’s it for so far as I remember although Tony has since informed me that: “David's reaction was that any organisation which could hold such an enjoyably anarchic meeting must be a great one to commit some time to.” Think about that one.
Wishing everyone a fine time over the so-called “Festive Season” and a great new year with much excellent cricket.
